Highlights; IVED 2014

This year’s IVED is held in Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Salatiga. (Mind you, the next JOVED is only about 2 hrs away, so Central Java seems to be the popular debating destination this year.)

This years’ IVED also introduced one new, fun aspect; Reply Speaker tab! IVED is now awarding those who are most proficient and masterful in wrap-ups, a fun twist for all.

SEF ITB sent 3 teams this year to one of the biggest national tourneys, and the only Australs one at that. The result? One fun competition with good accomplishments and many learning experiences. With the standing as goes;

ITB A : Ferry Fernando (#63), Adhika Widya Sena (#40) and Pelangi Helia Putri (#82)- main octofinals. (Pure 2013 team members-we are ever so proud of our Crows!)
ITB B : Taufiq Bashori (#33), Dara Indira (#13), Muhammad Lutfi (#14)- main semifinals.
ITB C : Midia Arifandi (#39) , Muhammad Arifian Adin (#49), Lee (#20) -main quarterfinals.

Props also to our N1 Adjudicator Jordi Lokanata and Breaking N1s Seruni Fauzia Lestari and Annisa Zuhairi! Also to party peeps Alris Alfharisi (DCA), Rifan Ibnu Rahman, Vicario Reinaldo and Jane Revevalin (Invited Adjs) who tagged along.

Highlights: JOVED & BAWOR 2013

Huzzah 2012s!!!

This year, SEF decided to do something real special; by making JOVED & BAWOR 2013 tournaments specially dedicated to our active 2012 batch debaters to experience a national-level competition, and a good experience it was.

This year SEF-ITB sent 2 teams of juniors to JOVED (courtesy of a certain faculty). Sadly, ITB B (Yosephin Retno Anggraeni, Dinda Mundakir, Ginani Hening Utami) fell short on making it to the Elims. However, celebration is still called for ITB A (Dara Indira, Lee Widya Putra and Jordi Lokanata) made it to the Semi-finals and grabbed 2nd Runner Up!! Props also to our Dini Aprillia Norvyani as a breaking N1 adjudicator 🙂

For BAWOR 2013, we have Midia Arifandi – Annisa Zuhairi in ITB A and Arifian Adin – Taufiq Bashori for ITB B. While ITB B didn’t break, ITB A pull through to the quarterfinals.

All in all, this year’s JOVED & BAWOR made a great stepping stone for our 2012 batch, and we can’t wait for further ventures in other tournaments!

Congratulations to the winner for the respective tournaments (Universitas Indonesia & BIPEDS). Also cheers to UB and BAWOR 2013 committees for great tourneys.

HIGHLIGHTS; 17th Annual ALSA E- Comp 2013

Victory, and then some.

This year (like many before), SEF-ITB participated in the annual ALSA-LC UI (otherwise known as ALSA-EnglishCompetition) Debating Competition. Held on past 26th-30th of April, SEF-ITB sent 2 teams, namely ITB A (Fauzan Reza, Alris Alfharisi, Jane Revevalin) and ITB B (Dinda Mundakir, Yosefin Retno Anggraeni, Dara Indira). Also joining us are the N1 for both teams (Vienda Fadillah Fahmy, Yosaka Eka Putra) and other SEF-ITB members and seniors who participated and came to show their support.

After the preliminary rounds, team ITB A broke 3rd to the knockouts with 4 VPs, losing once to UGM A at the 5th preliminary. Our N1, Vienda Fadillah Fahmy also broke 12th as an adjudicator. Unfortunately, with only 2 VPs , ITB B didn’t made it to the knockout rounds. (With that being said, we are all very proud with the team- who are in their first year as active debaters.)

We are happy to say, however, that it did end on a high note. After pushing through the elimination rounds, ITB A defeated BIPEDS A in the finals and won the 2013 ALSA EComp Debating Championship. On top of that, all three speakers in the team are in the Top 10 speakers list (Jane Revevalin #01, Fauzan Reza #02, Alris Alfharisi #06).
